Sarah Elizabeth "Babbie" Veronee Haynsworth, 93, of Charleston, South Carolina, the widow of the Right Rev. George Edward Haynsworth entered into eternal rest Wednesday, September 18, 2013. Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, September 21, 2013 in St. John's Parish Church, 3673 Maybank Highway, Johns Island, at 10:00 a.m. Interment, Church of The Holy Cross Churchyard, Sumter, SC. The family will receive friends Friday, September 20, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in J. HENRY STUHR INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, 232 Calhoun Street, Charleston, SC.
Babbie was born November 26, 1919, in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Alvin Ray Veronee and the late Amelia Schirmer Veronee. She was a graduate of Winthrop University and served in the United States Army Air Corps as a Flight Nurse during WWII. Babbie served as a missionary in Central America alongside her husband for 20 years. She was a member of St. John's Parish Church on Johns Island. Babbie was a most wonderful, fun, loving and caring woman, wife, mother and friend to all those around her. She will be remembered fondly by many for the great love she shared with children.
She is survived by three sons, George E. Haynsworth, Jr., Johns Island, SC, Richard D. Haynsworth, (Nancy) James Island, SC and Stephen A. Haynsworth, (Cindy) Johns Island, SC; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren, one sister, Amelia V. Bryan, Johns Island, SC, three brothers, Alvin R. Veronee, Johns Island, SC, Marvin Veronee, Charleston, SC and Randolph Veronee, Belgium. In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by two sons, Johnny Haynsworth and Joseph Haynsworth.
