Frances Sparnell Gardner, 89, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Paul Alexander Gardner entered into eternal rest Tuesday, May 8, 2018. Her memorial service will be held Friday, May 18, 2018 in The French Huguenot Church, 136 Church Street at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.
Frances was born October 5, 1928 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, daughter of the late Curtis Eugene Sparnell and Willie Mae Bridges Sparnell. She was a retired Health Care Benefits Advisor for the Charleston Naval Hospital.
Frances is survived by three children: Robert "Bobby" A. Gardner (Carol) of Charleston, SC , Donia G. Teagle (Barry) of Charleston, SC, and Kathy G. Crawford (David) of Charleston, SC; three grandchildren: Beth Dougherty (Doug) of Kaiserslautern, Germany, Franklin Teagle (Eleeza) of Brooklyn, NY , and Caroline T. Johnson (Travis) of Brooklyn, NY; four great-grandchildren: Vivian Dougherty, Rachel Dougherty, Milo Teagle and Roman Teagle.
Frances Gardner loved many things. She loved dancing, singing, all kinds of music, a good joke, ice cream, Gamecock football, and life. More than anything, however, Frances loved her family and friends.
That love was genuine and her sweet smile warmed the hearts of all who came into contact with her.In lieu of flowers the family respectfully suggests that memorials may be made to The French Huguenot Church Garden, 136 Church Street, Charleston, SC 29401.
