Sarah was born July 6, 1926 in Huntsville, Alabama, daughter of the late Charles Thomas Barret and the late Noriene Wilson Barret. She graduated from the University of Montevallo in Alabama in 1948. She taught school 33 years at Whitesides and Mt. Pleasant Academy Elementary Schools. Sarah loved all the children she taught over the years and she remembered most of them by name. Her love for children was also exhibited through her time volunteering with the Ronald McDonald House. She has been an active member of Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church since 1955: participating in the Lunch Bunch and Circle Five. Sarah had a generous and loving spirit, outgoing personality, and a caring and compassionate nature. She brought out the best in those around her with her encouragement, support, and love.
She is survived by three children, Susie Lesesne (Jimmy), Sally Pearson (Frank), and Perry Fant, III (Cheryl), all of Mount Pleasant, SC; six grandchildren, Barrie Crimmins (Scott), Billy Crocker (Meggan), Perry Fant, IV (Paige), Carmen Stuckey (Tradd), Katie Davis (Jeffrey) and Lee Pearson and eight great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Mary, Will, Katherine, Sam, Pearson, Metts, and Legare.
The family would like to express our deepest appreciation to the staff at Sandpiper Assisted Living, Rehab and Nursing Center, and Carolina Hospice Care for their loving care which was way and above what was required of them.
