Sara Frances Jones McGowen

Mrs. Sara Frances Jones McGowen entered into eternal rest June 23rd, peacefully at home with family at her side. A celebration of "Casey's" life will be held at eleven o'clock Wednesday, July 10th at Providence Baptist Church, 294 Seven Farms Drive, Daniel Island. Arrangements by J. Casey was born August 12th, 1932 in Greenville, SC, a daughter of Cleland and Addie Stewart Jones. She was a graduate of Greenville Public Schools and Furman University with a degree in Early Education. Casey taught both in Greenville and Charleston Counties, in the public and private sector before retiring in 1994. Helping children achieve their goals was always important to her. She also enjoyed many, many years of teaching young children in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She will be fondly remembered for her sweet, gentle spirit, her love for her family, and her strong faith in God. It was thru God that she met and married her soulmate, Lee Edward McGowen, Jr. They enjoyed 48 wonderful years together. She and Ed were charter members of Providence Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son, Brendan McGowen and his wife Laura, of Mt.Pleasant, and a sister, Loye Adams of Orlando, Florida, a nephew, niece, great niece, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Maria McGowen; and a son, Michael McGowen.
