Sara Jane Wolfe Chrisman

Sara Jane was born in Charlotte, NC on October 9, 1937 to Elizabeth Nabors Wolfe and John Hunter Wolfe. She was raised in the Dilworth neighborhood, attended the Charlotte public schools, graduating from Myers Park High School in 1955. After attending the NC Women's College at Greensboro for a year she married Mason Riley Chrisman of Charlotte in September 1956, to whom she stayed happily married until her death on July 6, 2025 for a total of 68 years, 10 months.

Sara Jane was the mother of Linda Chrisman Langley (Bob) of Marietta, GA; Catherine Chrisman Swanson (David) of Charleston, SC; and David Aubrey Chrisman of Sierra Madre, CA. They have six grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.

Sara Jane became called Jane after high school by many of her friends. She was a friendly and gracious lady, loved dearly by her many friends and family. She loved gardening and flowers, which she enjoyed for a lifetime. Her other loves included sailboat racing with her husband Mason, cruising the world's ocean in their long range cruising motor yacht, and spending time in their summer home in Newport, Rhode Island. Jane and Mason led a very active life, traveled the world over, and had many adventures both on and off the water.

Her greatest pride was her wonderful family, who learned grace and happiness from their wonderful mother, who was loved and admired by all who knew her.

A gathering to celebrate Jane's life will be on Monday, July 14 at the Swanson's home at 1433 Burningtree Road from 5-7 PM. All family and friends are invited to drop in and share memories of Jane.

Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel. A memorial message may be sent to the family on our website at www.jhenrystuhr.com.
