Sandra "Sandy" Eley Tims, 72, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of William E. Tims entered into eternal rest Wednesday, May 29, 2013. Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.
Sandy was born November 5, 1940 in Richmond, Virginia, daughter of Edward Hartwell Eley and Lillie Anderson Eley. She earned her Bachelors and Masters degrees in music education from Virginia Commonwealth University. She also earned a Teachers Certificate from the Orff Institute through the University of Toronto. Sandy was a member of First (Scots) Presbyterian Church where she sang in the church choir. She taught music to children in public and private schools, churches and students at the College of Charleston for many years. She volunteered with many organizations, such as the Virginia Historical Society, Boy Scouts of America and Spoleto Music Festival, where she was personal assistant to the chamber music performers during the first 10 years of the festival.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years; son, William Keith Tims and his wife Nancy Collins Tims of Cumming, GA; grandson, William Jackson Tims and her sister, Georgia Hening of Powhatan, VA.
