Sandra Kirton Luten, 82, of Summerville, South Carolina entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at her home while under hospice care, surrounded by her daughters and son-in-law.

Sandra was born on August 4, 1943, in Charleston, to the late James Clyde Kirton and Bessie Blakely Kirton. She is survived by her two daughters, Debra Weninger (Mark) and Amanda Appenzeller (Ned); her grandchildren, Lauren, Forest, and Katie Appenzeller; her sister, Florence Charlene Kirton; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Clyde B. Kirton, Sr.

Professionally, Sandra devoted over fifty years to her career as an insurance agent, beginning with James Howe and retiring from W.M. Means Co. She was an active member of the Insurance Professionals of South Carolina and served on the board of the Charleston Association of Insurance Professionals. Following her retirement, she continued her legacy of service by volunteering with Meals on Wheels of Summerville for several years. She was also a member of The Charleston Shag Club.

Sandra will be remembered for her love of family, her kind spirit, the many lives she touched throughout the years, and her love for dancing.

Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, June 27, 2026 at the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
