Samuel Clinton Brown, Jr., 77, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Emily Ganis Brown entered into eternal rest Saturday, June 1, 2024. His funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2024 in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel, 232 Calhoun Street at 11:00 am. Interment to follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 4, 2024 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm in the Downtown Chapel.
Samuel was born February 11, 1947 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Samuel Clinton Brown and Sara West Brown. He graduated from Chicora High School, The Baptist College and retired as the Deputy County Auditor. Samuel was a member of American Legion Post #147, former member of the South Carolina National Guard, Elks Lodge of Charleston, and member and Past President of Exchange Club of Charleston,
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Emily; brother, Michael R. Brown, Sr. (Melanie) of Summerville, SC; sister, Carol Brown Stackhouse (James) of Asheville, NC; three nephews: Michael R. Brown, Jr. (Nicole) of Daniel Island, SC, Kelly Stackhouse (Michelle) of Crestview, FL and Ashley Stackhouse (Arace) of Colorado Springs, CO; four nieces: Heather Brown DiPiazza (Rob) of Kansas, Amy Yara (Joe) of Jacksonville, FL, Melody Stackhouse of Los Angeles, CA and Sara Philipkosky (Gregg) of Greenwood, SC; and many great nieces and nephews.
