Entered into eternal rest on the evening of June 12, 2010, S/SGT Robert Clarence Rowland, Jr., USAF, RESERVE (RET.), husband of Grace Ballentine Rowland.  Residence, Charleston, South Carolina.  The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rowland, Jr., are invited to attend his funeral service at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at eleven o'clock.  Burial will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends at Stuhr's West Ashely Chapel this Tuesday evening from six until eight o'clock.


Mr. Rowland was born on November 2, 1935 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Robert Clarence Rowland and Frances Smoak Rowland.  A graduate of Bishop England High School, he served in the United States Air Force, and the United States Air Force Reserves from which he retired.  Mr. Rowland was employed for 36 years by the US Postal Service as a Mail Carrier.  He played the pedal steel guitar and was a member of the Texas Connection Band.  Mr. Rowland was a Mason, member of the Knights of Pytias, American Legion, Post 147 and the V.F.W.


In additional to his wife Grace of Charleston and his mother Frances of North Charleston, he is survived by a son, Robert Dale Rowland and his wife Pat of Charleston, a step-son, Tommy Martin of Charleston, and a brother Martin Rowland of St. George, S.C., and three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
