Ruthann Egan Epstein, wife of Robert Epstein passed away at home surrounded by her beloved family and friends. She was a warrior that battled Systemic Scleroderma for the past 10 years beating the odds time and time again. Every time her team of doctors would tell us it was time to say goodbye, Ruthann would smile and say "your're not getting rid of me yet."
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Robert, her son Steven and daughter-in-law Kristin, her son Kevin and daughter-in-law Lindsay, her two adorable grandchildren Briggs and Keller Grace and her faithful canine companions Mickey Mantle and LuLu. Ruthann is also survived by her sisters Maryellen, Katie and Patricia, brothers Bobby and Teddy, god daughter Theresa, a number of nieces and nephews and her devoted friends, Mary and Greg Jones, Lynn and Jerome Nelson, Andrew and Merci Ciappa, John and Liz Skistimas, John and Francis Jones, Bill and Judy Anderson, Chuck Buffolano, Joe Calandra, Harriet Brown, Don and Joanne Stuart, Ellen and Mike Riley, and John and Karen Fugina, all of whom held a special place in her heart. She is preceded in death by her parents John and Mae Egan, her brother John, and her two nephews Matthew and Sean. The family would like to thank everyone for all of their support, help and encouragement over the years. A special, heartfelt thank you to Roper Hospice for their guidance and exceptional care over the past few weeks.
In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a foundation called Ruthie's Games. Ruthann believed nothing could bring a family and friends together like sitting around the table and playing board and card games. She always felt our best conversations occurred while engaged in a game of Trouble, Parcheesi or Rummy 500. In honor of her memory, we will be collecting board and card games to donate to local children's charities.
A casual drop in to celebrate her life will be held at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road on Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm with a catered casual gathering (bring your bathing suits) from 6:00 pm until... at the Epstein family compound located at 3770 St. Ellen's Drive, Mt. Pleasant. The family asks that everyone bring their favorite unwrapped board/card game for the foundation.
Ruth will be missed greatly, her legacy will live on with her children, grandchildren and all those that had the pleasure of knowing her.
