Ruth Johnson Taylor, 93, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of Russell Taylor, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2014. Her Funeral Service will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, September 19, 2014 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Taylor was born in Nashua, New Hampshire on August 23, 1921, the daughter of the late Mary Maddox Johnson and Travis Johnson of Nashua. Mrs. Taylor was educated in the Nashua, New Hampshire schools and was a graduate of Nashua High School and Nashua Business College.
Mrs. Taylor was employed in the executive offices of Verney Corporation of Boston, Massachusetts, Textron, Inc. of Nashua, New Hampshire and the J.P. Stevens Co. of Andover, Massachusetts. She was the wife of Russell W. Taylor and the mother of two children: Janet Taylor Hall and son-in-law Dr. Jeffrey Hall of Isle of Palms, SC and Jon Russell Taylor and daughter-in-law Susan N. Taylor of Brick, New Jersey. She is also survived by two granddaughters, Ashlyn Taylor Hall and Hayley Alexandra Hall, both of Isle of Palms, South Carolina.
After moving to Dublin, Georgia in 1962, Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Pine Forest United Methodist Church of Dublin, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and also a teacher of the Methodist Youth Fellowship for many years. She was also an assistant Girl Scout Leader, Member of the Erin Garden Club, Secretary of the Senior Foresters and a Band mother.
Mrs. Taylor served as a secretary of the Springdale Baptist Church of Dublin, Georgia for 18 years and also served part time as financial secretary at Pine Forest United Methodist Church of Dublin, Georgia.
Mrs. Taylor retired in 1991 and in 1998 moved with her husband to the Elms of Charleston Retirement Community. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church of Summerville, SC and a member of the Searchers Sunday School Class.
Survivors also include her nephews, David Craig of San Clemente, CA, Robert Craig and his wife Gena of Rancho Mirage, CA, Kenneth Johnson of Melbourne, Australia, Peter Johnson of New Mexico, Wayne L. Johnson of Nashua, NH; her nieces, Linda Detty of Plant City, FL, Karen Johnson of Nashua, NH, and Donna Johnson of New Hampshire and Texas.
