Ruth Daves Swink, 96, of Laurens, South Carolina, widow of Lloyd Webster Swink, entered into eternal rest Sunday, September 11, 2016. Her Funeral Service will be held Sunday, September 18, 2016, in Pinecrest Baptist Church, 1285 Ashley Hall Road, at 2:00 p.m. with burial following in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in the church Sunday, one hour prior to service. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.

Ruth was born April 19, 1920 in Durham, North Carolina, daughter of the late John Wesley Daves and Mary Elizabeth Ferrell Daves. She was the former Minister of Music at First Baptist Church of Charleston and Rutledge Avenue Baptist Church. Ruth was a member of the Rebecca Mott Chapter of the DAR, The Huguenot Society of South Carolina, the Charleston Exchange Club Auxiliary and the Gideons. She was also a Hall of Fame recipient in 1988 from the Charleston Federation of Women's Club.

Ruth is survived by her son, Reverend Dr. David W. Swink (Grace) of Deland, FL; daughter, Susanne Higgins (Wesley) of Columbia, SC; two sisters: Mary Helen Hill of Thomasville, NC and Catherine Church of Asheboro, NC; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
