After a full and fruitful life of 83 years, Ruth Jean Kellner Russell of Isle Of Palms, South Carolina, wife of William Russell, has left the many who she loved and who loved her. She died Monday, March 10, 2014.
Ruth was born February 17, 1931 in Port Chester, New York, daughter of the late Otto Kellner and the late Dorothy Warwick Kellner. She spent her childhood years in the Stamford, CT area, much of her adult life in Colonial Heights, VA, and the last 16 years in active retirement on the Isle of Palms. She was a homemaker, raising 4 children and contributing to the upbringing of many foster children. She was a devoted member of the Daughters of the King.
She is survived by her husband of sixty two years, William "Bill" Russell of Isle of Palms, SC; two daughters, Susan Russell Rowland of VA, and Laurel Shaver and her husband, William, of NY; two sons, Robert Russell and his wife, Diana, of NJ, and Todd Russell and his wife, Irene, of VA; one sister, Dorothy Ann Dawson and her husband, Richard, of CT; two brothers, Charles Kellner and his wife, Mimi, of IN, and Robert Kellner and his wife, Gladys, of DE, plus 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Ruth also has a large and loving extended family through her many years as a foster parent.
A memorial service will be conducted in The Church of the Holy Cross, 2520 Middle Street, Sullivan's Island on Saturday, March 15 at 11 am.
