After a long brave battle with ALS (Loug Gehrig's Disease) Momma went to be with our Lord on Saturday February 2, 2013. We are sad that she left so soon and we miss her oh so terribly but we know she is whole again, without pain and suffering from her earthly body and we celebrate knowing that she is walking the streets of gold with the One who died for us all. We also smile knowing she is probably asking Him all kinds of questions and (in Momma's way) expecting the answers :)
She was born in Charlotte, NC on June 11, 1948 to Norma Warnock Stewart and the late Robert Lewis Stewart. She graduated from Garinger High School in Charlotte, NC in 1966. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family, dancing to oldies records, reading and swinging on her swing outside. She was a wonderful cook and her heart was volunteering at the Salem Baptist Church Food Trust. As a Christian she would share the Gospel with anyone who would listen and loved to sing hymns to her grand babies. As a mother she showed us how to love and how to be strong when we needed to be and soft when grace was called for. As a wife, she loved unconditionally and was quick to remind Daddy to relax and she showed her love for him daily. She loved her family and friends dearly. Momma was very proud to be a member of Salem Baptist Church, she loved her "Preacher" and all of her brothers and sisters in Christ.
When Momma went to rest with the Lord she left behind to celebrate her life; her husband, Bernhard H. Reeves, Jr. of Goose Creek, SC; mother, Norma Stewart of St. George, SC; two daughters, Margaret Elizabeth Robinson and her husband Devin of Cross, SC and Kristina Ruth Litzenberger and her husband Jeff of Goose Creek, SC. She is also survived by four granddaughters: Victoria Ruth Cumbee, Elizabeth Ann Cumbee, Emilea Faith McDonald and Grace Marie Litzenberger. Bernhard and Ruth were married for 40 years.
Momma told us last week, "If I get to Heaven before you do, I will dig a little hole and pull you through".
We are going to hold you to that.
