Ruth Azile Buckheister Petit, 87, wife of the late George Henry Petit, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, SC, passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2010. The relatives and friends of Ruth Azile Petit are invited to attend her Funeral Service on Friday, July 9, 2010 in J. HENRY STUHR MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL at 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in the Mount Pleasant Chapel on Friday, July 9, 2010 from 1:30 until time of the service. Mrs. Petit was born on August 31, 1922 in Charleston, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Henry E. Buckheister and Esther Lamb Buckheister. She was co-owner of the Sullivan's Island Party Shop and a member of Sunrise Presbyterian Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved to spend time with her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Petit Munoz and her husband, Dale, of Summerville, SC; Four grandchildren, George H. "Hank" Petit, IV and his wife, Kelly of Daniel Island, SC, Michael Scott Petit of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Durant B. Petit of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Matthew C. Munoz of Goose Creek, SC; five great grandchildren; brother Henry E. "Dutch" Buckheister and his wife, Ella Rue, of Mt. Pleasant, SC; sister-in-law, Frances R. Jones of John's Island with whom she resided for the past two years; a very special niece, Nancy J. Adams of John's Island who has been her constant companion and dedicated caregiver for the past two years; also a host of much loved additional nieces and nephews. She was precede in death by her son, George H. "Butch" Petit, III and her sister, Betty B. Noe.
