Ruthie was born May 17, 1951 in Charleston, SC, a daughter of the late Ernest Jesse Mizzell and Jeanette Powell Mizzell. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her children, Jennifer Mullinax (Bryan), Lindsay Hunter (Wesley Mitchum), Daniel Hunter (Lauren Altman), and Courtney Thornton, all of Charleston, SC; three sisters, Sue Klatt, Sandy Martin, and Betty Jo Conner; brother, David Mizzell and a grandchild, Hannah.
