Ruth Dorrity Gazes

Entered into eternal rest on the evening of November 18, 2011, Ruth Dorrity Gazes, widow of James C. Gazes. Residence, Greer, SC, formerly of Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service in the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at 2:00 pm. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Gazes was born July 11, 1921 in Newberry, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Benjamin L. Dorrity and the late Ruth Lindsey Dorrity. She was a graduate of Newberry High School, a member of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity in Charleston and attended St. George's Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Greenville, SC.

She is survived by a daughter, Hope G. Kapetanakos of Greer, SC; two sons, Christopher James Gazes of Macclenny, FL and Peter James Gazes of Charleston; three grandchildren, Peter C. Kapetanakos (Kimberly), James C. Kapetanakos (Kimberly) and James C. Gazes; two great-grandchildren, Christopher Kapetanakos and Katherine Kapetanakos; a brother, Benjamin L. Dorrity of Greenville, SC; and a brother-in-law, Dr. Peter C. Gazes (Athena) of Charleston.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Project Hope Foundation, 2131 Woodruff Road, Suite 2100, Greenville, SC 29607.
