Ruth A. Ernst

Ruth A. Ernst passed away September 26, 2018 at the age of 94. The family will receive friends Saturday, September 29, 2018 in GRAY FUNERAL HOME, 500 West Main Street, Laurens, SC from 11:30 a.m to 12:30 p.m. Her Funeral Service will follow at the graveside in Oakbrook Memorial Park, Hodges SC at 1:30 p.m. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL

She was born May 24, 1924 in New Jersey and was the daughter of John and Rachel Benson. She was the youngest daughter with eight siblings. Ruth was an elementary school teacher and librarian with the Roxbury Township Schools in Succasunna, NJ for over 30 years. She and her husband Edwin P. Ernst moved to the Pinehurst, NC area in the late 1980's, where they enjoyed traveling and playing golf. Subsequently they moved to Laurens, SC in the late 1990's where they lived at Martha Franks Retirement Village until Ed's passing in 2012 at which time she moved to Charleston to be near her son. Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She volunteered over the years with children and young adults in literacy program's in North Carolina.

She is survived by her son Hank D'Antonio (Angie), daughter Billie R. Wolfe (Chuck)of the Dominican Republic; grandchildren, Renee (Derrik Weddle) and Nicholas D'Antonio, Danielle Bliss (Kevin) of Taylors, SC; great-grandchildren, Curtis, Caden and Caylee, Danielle's children.
