Ruth Lorraine Barnes Ebner, 86, of Charleston, SC, died peacefully on Saturday, September 12, 2015, at The Oaks in Cumming, GA. She was born October 04, 1928, in Mount Pleasant, TN, to Katie Mae Parrish Barnes and Virgil Waco Barnes.
Ruth retired from the Charleston County School System in 1993. She was active in the Carolina Bay Church until 2013 when her health required her to relocate to The Oaks Assisted Living community in Cumming, Georgia.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents and her husband of 53 years, Joseph Longstreet Ebner. Surviving are daughters, Virginia Caroline Talacek (Raymond J.) of Sun City West, AZ; Lorraine Mitchell (Randall A.) of Cumming, GA; and Marye Jo Hartley (P. Greg) of Fairfax, Virginia; grandchildren, Chris Fletcher (Christine) of San Diego, CA; Matt Hartley of New York, NY; Georgia King (Paul) of Jessup, MD; Lindsey Mitchell of Atlanta, GA; Hunter Hartley of Roanoke, VA; and Kelli Mitchell of Cumming, GA; and one great-granddaughter Calliope Fletcher.
Services will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at 12 o'clock in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road, Charleston, SC. The family will receive friends at the Stuhr West Ashley Chapel on Tuesday September 15, 2015, from 11:00 am until time of the service.
