Ruth Pemberton Coffman, 87, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of Robert "Bob" Price Coffman lost her battle with Alzheimer's on Thursday, September 13, 2018. Her Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, October 17, 2018 in the First United Methodist Church - Isle of Palms, 12 21st Avenue at 1:00 pm. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. Ruth was born April 16, 1931 in Richmond, Virginia, daughter of the late Julian Pemberton and the late Catherine Davis Pemberton. Ruth was a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and taught middle school American History in Chesterfield County, VA for over 25 years. She enjoyed taking her students on trips to Europe. After retirement she enjoyed traveling the world with a large group of friends. Her travels included Europe, Africa, China, Australia and New Zealand. She and Bob also traveled around the United States. Ruth was a huge Duke basketball fan and never missed a game on television.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years Robert P. Coffman of Mt. Pleasant, SC; daughters, Judy Lovelace (Sam) of Indian Beach, NC, Lynn Otis (Jim) of Mendota, VA and Robin Eichert (Pete) of Jaffrey, NH. She was predeceased by her parents and brother, Joseph L. Pemberton.
