Ruth DuBose Coats

Entered into eternal rest on the morning of January 18, 2011, Ruth DuBose Coats, widow of John P. Coats.  Residence, Charleston, SC.  The relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services at the graveside in Carolina Memorial Park, Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 4:00 pm.

Mrs. Coats was born July 30, 1918 in Hebron (Cades), SC, the daughter of Walter H. DuBose and Sally Thomas DuBose.  She was a graduate of St. Stephen High School.  Ruth began her career with Geer Drug Company, where she became the first lady sales representative, serving the company for 12 years.

Ruth was a fun loving lady with a host of faithful friends. "To know her was to love her." She was a dedicated, active member of Bethel United Methodist Church, participating in the UMW and the Friendship Sunday School Class.  She enjoyed her life style at Horizon Bay, where she was well cared for and had many friends.  Ruth's quick wit and easy smile made spending time with her a pleasure for all.

She is survived by step-son: Robert Peter Coats (Connie); three grandchildren: Marla Coats Garcia (Michael), Robert Peter Coats, Jr., Raymond Coats (Sherry); three great grandsons: Michael, Daniel & Benjamin Garcia, all of Virginia; and several cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church Restoration Fund, 57 Pitt Street, Charleston, SC 29401.
