Ruth B. Mazyck, 85, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, died Saturday, January 28, 2017. Her Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2017 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Ruth was born March 24, 1931 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Ralph Austin Butler and the late Edna Ruth Buckley Butler. She graduated from the College of Charleston. Ruth met and married Dr. Eugene F. Woods in 1951, and they raised three children in Mount Pleasant, SC. She later married William G. Mazyck III in June of 1991. Ruth enjoyed working and volunteering at the University of South Carolina, MUSC, and Hope Lodge. She was a charter member of the Charleston Hat Ladies and was a member of Citadel Square Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Mount Pleasant.
She is survived by her daughter, Jan Woods Buckheister of Mount Pleasant, SC; her son, Ralph E. Woods of Racine, WI; her daughter-in-law, Rae Woods of Hartsville, SC; eleven grandchildren, Katie Payne (Brandon), Becca Cribb (Rik), Brian Austin, Ward Buckheister (Danielle), Jennifer Mohr (Josh), Davis Buckheister (Lori), R.J. Woods, Jessica Knoll (Jon), Caroline Woods (Bill), Matthew Woods (Whitney), and Tyler Buckheister (Nicole); seventeen, soon to be twenty, great-grandchildren; and several close nieces and nephews.
In addition to both of her husbands, she was preceded in death by her son, Randolph Alan Woods, Sr.; and a sister, Janet B. Hucks.
