Ruth Ann Barnes, 76, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on March 18, 2021 in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.

Ms. Barnes was born October 31, 1944, in Alexandria, Virginia, to Mark C. and Laura Keller Gordon. She lived most of her life on the Isle of Palms, S.C. and later, Mt. Pleasant, S.C. She worked many years as a civil service employee, and later at the family business until retirement. Her most important job, the job she loved the most, was being fully and always present in her grandchildren's lives, playing a major role in their upbringing. Ms. Barnes was a caring, kind woman with a strong sense of humor that will be missed by many, particularly her grandchildren.

Ms. Barnes loved her family above all. Her son and grandchildren were the lights of her life. She is survived by her son, Sean A. Barnes (Yvette) of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; her grandchildren, Sean A. Barnes, Jr. (Chandler) and Sophia M. Barnes, also of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; her beloved chihuahua, Nikkie; her brother, Mark Gordon of Walterboro, S.C; her niece, Natalie Ayer of Bamberg, S.C.; and many, many cousins, and friends.

A private funeral service will be held Friday, March 26, at the J. Henry Stuhr Mount Pleasant Chapel. The interment service, family and friends welcome, will be held in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens Friday, March 26, at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Rescued in S.C., 1985 Riveria Dr., Ste 103-205, Mt. Pleasant, S.C. 29464.
