Russell Hydrick, 87, widower of the late Mary Kemmerlin Hydrick, of Mt. Pleasant, SC passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2011. The relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service for Russell Hydrick on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at J. Henry Stuhr Mount Pleasant Chapel.
Mr. Hydrick was born June 15, 1924 in Orangeburg, SC, son of Jacob Calvin and Mattie Mae Myers Hydrick. He graduated from Bowman High School. He was married to Mary Kemmerlin Hydrick for 52 years until her death in 2000. He was an Army veteran of WWII and Korea, a Charleston County Deputy and served with the SC Highway Patrol. He was a former owner and operator of Hydrick Texaco on Coleman Blvd in Mt. Pleasant. He was also a rural letter carrier and retired in 1983. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant and a charter member of East Cooper Outboard Motor Club.
He is survived by a two sons, Alan Hydrick (Debbie) of Moncks Corner, SC and Larry Hydrick (Donna) of Mt. Pleasant; daughter, Denyse "Neyse" Barkley (Miles) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; daughter in law, Cindy Hydrick; sister, Margaret Myers Still of Columbia, SC; brother, Bernard Hydrick of Cope, SC; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Billy Hydrick in 2006.
