Russell W. Hutchison, 83, of North Charleston, SC, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, January 18, 2023. His services will be private, by family.  Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel.

Russ was born January 3, 1940 in Salamanca, New York, son of the late Ernest Wilson Hutchison and Virginia Conhiser Hutchison.  He traveled coast to coast, driving his 18-wheeler.  Russ also faithfully served his country in the United States Navy for six years, served in the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion.  In his spare time, Russ was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing in Santee Lake (the hatchery) and Bushy Park.  He had quite the green thumb and could help just about anything thrive.  He was a Christian of the Baptist faith.  Russ enjoyed his television programs, particularly The Andy Griffith Show, Gunsmoke and Christian shows.  He was a singer/songwriter and played the bass guitar.  He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.

He is survived by seven children; Ronald R. Shumpert, Sr., Suzanne L. Gonzales, Russell Hutchison, Jr., Jeremy Hutchison, Jessica Jones, Rhonda Rhoton and Tammy L. Dry; one sister, Judy Mahnk and one brother, Ron Hutchison; his good dog, Rusty.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
