Rufus "BoBo" Jennings Thames, Jr., 75, of Awendaw, South Carolina, husband of Hazel T. Thames entered into eternal rest Wednesday, September 12, 2018. His Graveside Service will be held Thursday, September 13, 2018 in Wilson Cemetery, 761 Wilson Cemetery Road at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel.
BoBo was born December 3, 1942 in Charleston, SC, a son of the late Rufus Jennings Thames, Sr. and Effie Davis Thames. He was an all around handy man that loved hunting and fishing, especially flounder gigging. He was a foreman/lineman, having dedicated 42 years to Berkeley Electric Cooperative. BoBo was a past Master of Lodge St. James #275 in McClellanville and a member of First Baptist Church of Mount Pleasant.
BoBo is survived by his wife, Hazel T. Thames of Awendaw, SC; son, Rufus Jennings Thames III (Terri) of Bristol, VA; daughter, Lisa Thames Avant (Marty) of Hemmingway, SC; two grandchildren: Jennings Thames Avant and Jenna Kay Avant, both of Hemmingway, SC; two brothers: William King Freeman of Mount Pleasant, SC and Richard Eugene Thames (Kathy) of Georgetown, SC; three sisters: Patricia Ann Query of Folly Beach, SC, Bonnie Anderson (Dana) of North Myrtle Beach, SC and Robin Williams Thomas (Marvin) of Asheville, NC; aunt, Mary Lou Davis Black of Mount Pleasant, SC; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
