Entered into eternal rest Wednesday, March 30, 2011 Ruby Edna Scott Knight, wife of Emanuel D. Knight, Sr. Residence, Charleston, South Carolina. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Emanuel D. Knight, Sr. are invited to attend the funeral service of the latter in St. Andrew's Parish United Methodist Church, Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in Summerville Cemetery, Summerville, SC. The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, Friday afternoon from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
Born November 26, 1924 in Charleston, Ruby was the daughter of David W. Scott and Margeline Duc Scott. She was a member of St. Andrew's Parish United Methodist Church. During WWII she served in an aircraft manufacturing plant in Baltimore, MD as a "Bucker".
Survivors include her husband of 61 years Emanuel D. Knight, Sr. of Charleston; two daughters: Sondra Knight Jordan of Hampton, SC and Laura Knight Hawley (Len) of Charleston; a son: Emanuel D. Knight, Jr. (Mona) of Summerville; a sister: Jacqueline "Sista" Yensen of Summerville; ten grandchildren: David Knight, Elizabeth K. Lee (Trey), Madyson Paige Hawley, Gary S. Knight, Jr. (Sherry), Christina K. Heitz, Bobby E. Jordan, Jr., David Allen Phillips, Jr., Tracy Lynn Long, Bobbie E. Witty and Priscilla E. Jordan; twenty- three great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Mrs. Knight was preceded in death by a son, Gary S. Knight, Sr., two grandchildren, Rebecca Nicole Knight and Michael E. Jordan and a brother Bobby Scott.
