Ruby C. Hanf Hetrick, 87, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Richard D. Hetrick, entered into eternal rest Sunday, January 20, 2013. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2013 in the New Beginnings Community Church, 849 Ft. Johnson Road at 1:00 pm. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.
Ruby was born October 15, 1925 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of Joseph David Champion and Alice Spell Champion. She was employed as a salesperson and retired from the Sears, Roebuck Co., on Calhoun Street in Charleston. Ruby also worked for the Charleston County School District. She was a member of Fort Johnson Baptist Church, the VFW Auxillary, Dorchester Road and the American Legion Auxillary, Folly Road.
She is survived by her son, Joseph B. Hanf (Elda) of Charleston, SC; daughter, Alicia H. Owens (Robert) of James Island, SC; a child of Ruby's heart, Clarence Stephens of James Island, SC; a sister, Ruth C. Glover of Charleston, SC; six grandchildren: Wendy Isgett, Joanne Tucker, Tammy Johnson, Francis Kelling, Michael Owens, and Jason Hanf; eleven great grandchildren and three neices. Ruby is predeceased by her husband, Richard and her son, Werner Hanf.
