Ruby Wilson Allen

January 11, 1919 — July 28, 2012

Ruby W. Allen of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of the late William "Bill" Royal Allen, entered into eternal rest Saturday, July 28, 2012. The relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services Tuesday, July 31, 2012 in First Baptist Church of Charleston, 48 Meeting Street, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m.

Ruby was born on January 11, 1919 in Selma, North Carolina, daughter of the late Daniel Henry and Ida Wicker Wilson. She was a retired Manager for National Linen Service, a member of First Baptist Church of Charleston, and the Director of Bed Babies Nursery for the church. She volunteered for over thirty years at Roper Hospital and was a recipient of the Governor's State Volunteer Award in 1995. Ruby loved children and gardening.

She is survived by two sons, W. Joe Allen and W. Dave Allen of Charleston, SC; two sisters, Pattie Strickland (Loyd) of Raleigh, NC, and Barbara Jean Bell (Carl) of Waynesboro, VA; two brothers, Ruffin Wilson (Faye) of Wilmington, NC, and Charles Wilson of Four Oaks, NC; three grandchildren, Stephanie Crossman (Mark) of Madison, MS, Kelly Hair (Greg) of Summerville, SC, and W. Todd Allen (Jennifer) of Summerville, SC; five great-grandsons, Reid Hair, Clayton Crossman, Zachary Crossman, Oliver Allen, and Wilson Allen. She was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
