Royal Harris (Chip) Gibson, Jr., 76, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Kimberly Ruth Lawson Gibson entered into eternal rest Wednesday April 4, 2018. His Memorial Service will be held Wednesday April 18, 2018 in Saint James Church at 11:00 A.M. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.
Royal was born August 2, 1941 in Summit, New Jersey, son of the late Royal H. Gibson and Anna Jacoby Gibson. He was a graduate of Princeton University and was retired from Charleston County School District serving in James Island High School and Garrett Academy.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kimberly Gibson of Charleston, two sons; Andrew Townley Gibson of Savannah, GA, Jeffrey Amshalem of Boston, MA, daughter; Margaret Emily Gibson of Moncks Corner, SC, sister; Marjorie Abson of Fair Haven, NJ and nine grandchildren. Royal is predeceased by a daughter Dr. Amy Catherine Gibson Black.
