Roy Lee McDowell

Roy Lee McDowell, 78, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Gail Tucker McDowell entered into eternal rest Tuesday, September 12, 2017. The family will receive friends Saturday, September 16, 2017 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. His Funeral Service will be held Sunday, September 17, 2017 in Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens.

Roy was born August 4, 1939 in Conway, SC, son of the late Woodrow McDowell and Ethel Barnhill McDowell. He was a retired maintenance mechanic from Bayer Chemical Plant. Roy was a member of St. Andrews Family Worship Church.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gail McDowell of Charleston, SC, two daughters, Tara Summersett (Nelson) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Pam Willson (Gary) of Charleston, SC; three grandchildren, Dean Willson, Dylan Summersett and Ashlyn Summersett; three brothers, Larry McDowell of Greensboro, NC, Jerry McDowell of Goose Creek, SC, Ronny McDowell of Cottageville, SC; three sisters, Linda Cannon of Goose Creek, SC, Eunice Easterling of Goose Creek, SC, Martha Davis of Cottageville, SC. He is preceded in death by his sister, Opal Jones.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to St. Andrews Worship Church.
