Roy Edward Corbin, Jr., passed away at home on December 5, 2025. Roy, known as “Buddy” to those close to him, was a kind and generous man. He was born on January 17, 1935, near Pelzer, SC, but lived most of his life in the Low Country. Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Earline Corbin, his baby daughter, Karen Corbin, and his wife, Peggy Sheriff Corbin. He went on to live a happy life on Edisto Island, SC before settling down in Ridgeville, SC.

Buddy was a graduate of North Charleston High School, and resided in Hanahan, where he raised his four surviving children, Cindy Tucker, Lynda Bailey, Steve Corbin, and David Corbin, all of whom have gone on to raise families of their own. He is survived by two brothers, Richard and Kenneth Corbin and their families, a brother-in-law, Larry Sheriff, as well as a nephew, Casey Frazer, and a niece, Cori Masterson, and many grand- and great grandchildren.

Buddy learned welding and fabrication in the 1950s under the tutelage of his beloved father-in-law, Truman Sheriff. He worked as a pipefitter at the Charleston Navy Base, and at the paper mills in North Charleston and Georgetown, SC. He went on to open Corbin’s Hitch Shop, a business in North Charleston that has served this community for over fifty years. The reputation of this business, currently run by his two sons, is a reflection of the honest and hard-working man he was.

Buddy served the Lord as a deacon at several North Charleston churches. He loved Stingray Hockey, animals – especially birds – music, the breezes at Edisto, and the view from his dock on beautiful Fishing Creek. He was a wonderful example of kindness, was always respectful of others, and always did the right thing. Buddy’s Christian faith and his beautiful prayers provided solace to those who now mourn him. His gentle, caring nature will be missed by all, but his strong faith, and enduring love of God and country, will live on in those he left behind.

A visitation and service is set for Saturday, December 13, at 1:00 pm at J. Henry Stuhr Northwoods Chapel at 2180 Greenridge Road, North Charleston, SC, 29406. A graveside interment is set for January 17, 11:00 am at Carolina Memorial Gardens at 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC, 29406.
