Rosina Marie Kennerty Seignious "Rose Marie," 88, of Charleston, SC, widow of Harold deBignon Seignious entered into eternal rest Monday, September 29, 2014. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, October 2, 2014 in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 89 Hasell Street at 11:00 a.m. Rite of Committal, Magnolia Cemetery. Arrangements by J. Rose Marie was born July 23, 1926 in Charleston, SC, daughter of William Charles Kennerty, Sr. and Rosina Sottile Kennerty. She graduated from St. Andrew's Parish High School with honors and graduated from Brenau College in Gainesville, GA with a Bachelor of Arts degree in foreign languages at the age of 19. She was a member and treasurer of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority, as well as President of Sigma Pi Alpha National Honor Society. She received a Masters of Arts degree from the University of South Carolina.
Mrs. Seignious taught at St. Andrew's School for 33 years. She was a life member of the St. Andrew's PTO, past president of The Charleston County Education Association and a lifetime member in the SC Education Association. Mrs. Seignious was the first "Miss St. Andrew's Parish" and represented West of the Ashley in the Azalea Festival. She enjoyed bridge and antiquing, but most of all loved making Ashley Hall Plantation beautiful. Rose Marie was also a lifelong member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church.
She is survived by her brother William Charles Kennerty, Jr. and his wife, Joan, of Charleston, SC.
