Rose Mary Pettit, 69, of Ravenel, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, May 19, 2026. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 24, 2026 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway. Her Funeral Service will follow, starting at 2:00 pm.
Rose was born August 4, 1956 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Joseph Clark and Gladys E. Benton. Rose had a variety of pastimes, from playing bingo, visiting the Cherokee casino, and the friendly challenge of playing Yahtzee with her best friend Rhonda Austin. She often expressed her creative nature in crocheting. Rose enjoyed watching the classics, such as "The Young and the Restless" and "The Bold and the Beautiful". Above all else, she valued spending quality time with her family.
She is survived by three daughters, Gladys "Elaine" VonSteenburgh (Robert Yeargain) of Johns Island, SC, Gertie VonSteenburgh of Ravenel, SC, Bobbie Jo Moore of Ravenel, SC; bonus daughter, Angie Benton (Phillip Benton) of John’s Island; grandchildren, Michael McLellan, Jr. (Haley), Alexis Buckner (Gabrielle), Destiny Yeargain, Caleb McLellan (Trinity), Brian Early (Kayla), Adrian Lowman (Kaylee), Halie Early, and Gavin Jones (Cheyanne); great-grandchildren, Lewis, Cece, Jaxon, and Riley; sister, Linda Gail Clark, of SC; brother, Julius Clark, of SC; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, John Auther Pettit; brothers: Joseph Allen Clark Jr (Bubba) and Joseph Allen Clark ll. Also her dog, her baby, Brendy.
