Rosalie Salvo Orvin, 93, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of George Henry Orvin, M.D., entered into eternal rest Monday, April 6, 2015. Her Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, April 8, 2015 in St. Philip's Church, 142 Church Street, at 3:00 p.m. Interment, St. Philip's Churchyard. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Downtown Chapel.
Rosalie was born March 18, 1922 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of George Clifton A. Salvo and May Stewart Salvo. She was a graduate of Memminger High School in 1939 and Winthrop College in 1943. She was a gold Lifetime Master of the American Contract Bridge League and a past president of the Medical Society Alliance from 1953-1954. Rosalie traveled the world extensively and, for several years in the 1960's and 1970's worked as a travel agent and was owner of Orvin Travel Agency. She was a member of St. Philip's Church.
She is survived by her three children: Jay S. Orvin (Kathy), Debra Ann Orvin, Nancy Lee Orvin Brumby (James), all of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and a "daughter of the heart," Stewart Halpin Knight (Michael); grandchildren: Elizabeth Orvin Tyler, Kimberly Orvin Barber, Jay Scott Orvin Jr., Amanda Lee Rogers, Philip Ryan Ward, W. Howard Buddin Jr., George Henry Buddin, and John Theodore Buddin; and thirteen great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Candace Orvin Palmer (Tomis).
