Rosalie Sanders "Sandy" Donaldson Knisley, 79, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, widow of John Carroll Knisley, Sr., entered into eternal rest Wednesday, September 11, 2024. All services will be private. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel.
Sandy was born May 3, 1945 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Robert James Donaldson, Sr. and Rosalie Wilmot Coleman Donaldson. She grew up at the foot of Queen Street on Charleston harbor in the Old Village area of Mt. Pleasant. Sandy attended Moultrie High School in Mt. Pleasant and the University of South Carolina in Columbia. Sandy was reared in St. Andrews Episcopal Church on Whilden Street in the Old Village where she was baptized, confirmed and married to the love of her life, John Carroll Knisley, Sr. on June 8, 1968. Sandy and John had three children and have lived in Mt. Pleasant ever since; Mary Catharine Knisley, John Carroll, Jr. and James "Jim" Coleman Knisley. John and Jim predeceased their parents after very long and debilitating illnesses. In addition to their children, over the years the family had one cat and several dogs: Ace, Misty, Ginger, Rosie, Abby, Julie, Snoopy, and Pepper (Pepe le Pew); as well as Kate, a yellow fronted Amazon parrot which lived for 40 years.
Sandy is survived by her daughter, Mary Catharine Knisley (Jhon Montalvo). She was predeceased by her two sons: John Jr. and Jim; her siblings: Robert Donaldson, Jr., Katharine Butler, Mary Ann Hay, Betty Williams.
Sandy will be interred with her husband between their two sons in Christ Church Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Per her request, all services including burial will be private. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mt. Pleasant Chapel.
Sandy was thankful for their many friends over the years, their children, and their own full, fortunate, and blessed life together, and looked forward to reunification with their sons.
