Roosevelt Gunnells

Roosevelt Gunnells, Sr., 73, of Dorchester, South Carolina, died Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at his home.

Born September 10, 1937 in Bamburg County, South Carolina, Mr. Gunnells, was the son of William Earl Gunnells and Olar Easter Still Gunnells. He was a member of Open Door Bible Baptist Church in Goose Creek.  Mr. Gunnells was employed at the Charleston Naval Weapons Station as a heavy equipment operator for 20 years. He also worked at the Goose Creek Parks and playgrounds.

Surviving Mr. Gunnells are his wife of 52 years: Brenda Sue Hurst Gunnells of Dorchester, SC:  sons: Anthony Ray Gunnells, Sr. and wife Belinda of Lisbon, ME and Roosevelt "R.V." Gunnells, Jr. of Dorchester, SC; daughters: Deana Allegretto and husband Guido of Santee, SC, Julie Ann Gunnells of Dorchester, SC, Kellie Jo Kenneally and husband Joseph of Summerville, SC, and Becky Ramos and husband Ben; sisters:  Easter Perkins and husband Sam of Hastings, FL and Doreen Larsen of Roundo, SC;  brothers: Jessie Gunnells of Barnville, SC and Russell Gunnells of Bishopville, SC;  grandchildren: Brenna Kenneally, Patrick Kenneally, Jacob Kenneally, Stephanie Gunnells, AJ Gunnells, Shandi Gunnells, Amerigo Allegretto, Vinnie Allegretto, Anthony Gunnells, Jr., Tamara Gunnells, David Gunnells, Christina Jones and Ashley Satterfield; great grandchildren: Brayden Hawkins, Joshua Gunnells, Kyle Gunnells, Andrea Gunnells, Rayanna Gunnells, Carter Ramos and Kaylee Jones.

The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Roosevelt Gunnells, Sr. are invited to attend the funeral service of the former at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road , N. Charleston, Saturday, October 9, 2010 at two o'clock.  Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel Friday, October 8, 2010 from seven until nine o'clock.
