Ronald Dean Kirkley, 71, of Anderson, South Carolina (formerly of Mt. Pleasant, SC), passed away on Friday, December 2, 2016. Born in Charleston, SC on December 23, 1944, he was the son of the late Charles Hammond Kirkley and the late Sara White Kirkley. Ron was a graduate of St. Andrew's High School, Class of 1964. He attended Trident Technical College as well as the College of Charleston. Mr. Kirkley retired from Exxon Corporation and was a former SC Highway Patrolman.A life-long Clemson Tiger, Ron would rarely pass up an opportunity to attend a Clemson football game. He loved old Western movies, antique car shows, and spending as much time as possible with his family. He was a gentle and loving soul who was always willing to help those in need, while expecting nothing in return.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over 18 years, Geri Meredith Kirkley of Anderson, SC; four daughters, Rena Kirkley of Charleston, SC, Elaine Lanie Kirkley Wiegman (John) of Tall Timbers, MD, and Amanda Martin (Kevin) and Jennifer McDonald (Tim) of Columbia, SC; brother, Tommy Kirkley (Jean) of Lexington, SC; twelve grandchildren, Jay, Sara, Danny, Dillon, Levi, Mallory, Cole, Wyatt, Lilly, Owen, Hayes, and Davis; three nieces, Kerri Taylor (Casey), Shannon Pietrzak (Tim), Allison Bailey (Steven); and one nephew, Thomas Crouch.
The funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Ron Kirkley will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2016, in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday in Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
