Ronald John Cerrudo, 79, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Madeline Watson Cerrudo, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, April 24, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, May 10, 2024 in the Daniel Island Club at 11:00 am. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel.
Ron was born February 4, 1945 in Palo Alto, California, son of the late John Ellis Cerrudo and Betty Rorquist Cerrudo. After attending San Jose State University, he had an 11 year career on the PGA Tour, where he was the winner of three tournaments. He then began what would become a 23 year stretch as a golf teaching pro in Hilton Head, and later 21 years as the Director of Golf Instruction at the Daniel Island Golf Club. During his career, Ron was inducted into the South Carolina Golf Hall of Fame and named Top Teaching Pro in South Carolina by Golf Digest. He later became a volunteer with the PGA's charitable foundation, PGA Reach, which through the PGA Hope program, veterans are introduced to golf to enhance their physical, mental and social well-being. Ron will be remembered for the way he loved his family and, of course, his passion for golf.
In addition to his wife of 50 years, Madeline, Ron is survived by his daughters, Katherine West Erdman (Cole) of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Staci Lynn Artherton (Cindy) of Modesto, CA; his brother, Gordon Cerrudo (Shirley) of Scottsdale, AZ; his sister, Deborah Cerrudo of San Rafael, CA; and several nieces & nephews.
