Roland George Caron

Roland George Caron, 85, of Manning, South Carolina, husband of Laurette Juliette Couture Caron, entered eternal rest on Monday, September 12, 2022. His memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at J. Henry Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.

Roland was born June 22, 1937, in Berlin, New Hampshire, the son of Placide Emile Caron and Gertrude Aubert.  He graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1959 and from the University of Bridgeport with a master's degree in Applied Mechanics in 1970.  

He "fell" in love after his sweetheart, Laurette, tripped him on the roller-skating rink, and then they married on February 27, 1960. His first daughter, Cynthia, was born in 1961 in Germany while he was in the army.  His new family moved to Connecticut in 1962. His family grew with the addition of two daughters, Lisa and Diana.

He was employed in many roles as a mechanical engineer until he enjoyed an early retirement in 1988.  His favorite activities were skiing, boating, sailing, designing and renovating his home. He prided himself on attention to detail and the fact that he could fix anything.  

In addition to his wife, Roland is survived by his daughters and their families: Cynthia and Kevin Brocks and their children Annette and Kevin of West Sand Lake, NY, Lisa and Bruce Hickey of Sherman, CT, and Diana Caron and her children Madeleine and Dylan of Cottageville, SC.

In memory of Roland, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
