Entered into eternal rest on the morning of June 2, 2012, Roger Alexander Russell, M.D., beloved husband of Sondra Gail Bartholomew Russell. Residence, Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends of Dr. and Mrs. Roger A. Russell are invited to attend the funeral service of the former in Calvary Baptist Church, 942 Folly Road, Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Calvary Baptist Church Monday evening between at 6:00 and 8:00 p.m.

Dr. Russell was born August 16, 1953 in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, a son of the late Lewis Charles "Bill" Russell and Eva Freedman Russell Stanton. He was a graduate of Baptist College and M.U.S.C. College of Medicine, completing his residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Included among his many organization affiliations are: S.C. Medical Association, the American Chemical Society and the Charleston County Medical Society.

He is survived by his loving wife of Charleston; their ten children: Joseph Luke Alexander Russell, M.D. and wife, Rubyli, of Galveston, TX, Maxwell Paul Alexander Russell, Valerie Alexandra Lauren Russell King and husband, Charley, Benn Emerson Alexander Russell, William Roger Alexander Russell, Katyrina Anne Alexandra Russell, Alexander Bertram Nathaniel Russell, Tiffany Elizabeth Alexandra Russell, Kevin Lewis Alexander Russell and Julie Nicole Alexandra Russell, all of Charleston; his mother; a sister and brother, Linda C. Russell and David J. Stanton, all of Charleston. Dr. Russell was the proud Grandpa of C. J. King; and loved his nephew, S. John Collins, as a son. He was predeceased by his father, step-father, Courtney R. Stanton and a son, Lewis Cooper Alexander Russell.
