Roger Lee Jones, Jr. “Lee” passed away from cancer on September 13, 2025. Cancer may have consumed his body, but his spirit continues to live on in his Lord Jesus Christ. Lee’s Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held on the afternoon of Sunday, October 12, 2025 at McLeod Plantation Pavilion, 325 Country Club Drive, Charleston, SC from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm. His passionate songs will be played by friends from throughout the State along with videos of his past performances.

Born in Morristown, TN on December 5, 1979, Lee was the beloved son of Teresa and Roger Lee Jones, Sr. He graduated from Greer High School in Greer, SC in 1998. Lees classmates fondly remember his generous smile and laugh. He attended the College of Charleston where he majored in business and minored in music.

Lee founded Music for Life, a non-profit music academy teaching deserving students at Haut Gap Middle School, St. Johns High School and Charleston Classical School to learn music theory, play musical instruments and write their own music. His student’s songs are endeared by the many who have heard them. Lee said, “Music has the ability to save your life and your soul.” He was a natural teacher expressing his great love and patience with each student.

Lee loved his family, and his memories continue to make us laugh. At the end of his life, cancer consumed his body, but his fighting spirit never dulled and his last words were of love for his parents and sisters. He was dearly loved and leaves behind a host of friends and family who will cherish their precious memories of him. Lee was known for his courage, passion, and his will to pursue the truth.

Lee is survived by his parents, Roger and Teresa Jones; sisters: Allyson Leigh Jones Thornton (Austin) and Erin Rebecca Jones Smith (Jason); niece, Alexis Kay Thornton Mainville (Chase); and two nephews: Austin Cole Thornton and Lucas Richmond Smith all of Charleston; and his grandparents, Andy and Chris Davis of Greer, SC.
