Roberta Louise Durham Ness

Roberta "Louise" Durham Ness, age 66, died September 20, 2011, Charleston Hospice, Charleston, South Carolina. Born July 15, 1945 in Arkansas, she graduated from South High School, Wichita, Kansas in 1963.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Fairella Roberta Elam and Leonard A. Durham, a brother, Leonard C. Durham and a sister, Sandra Jean Durham Batchelor.

She is survived by a son, Mark David Ness (Theresa) and granddaughter Amber Ness, a daughter, Dena Louise Ness Sopshier (David), and three sisters, Leona L. Durham, Malinda Kay Durham, Jackie L. Durham, extended family members, and a host of terrific friends.

Louise was a 40 year resident of Charleston and retired early August from UPS where she worked in the area of import/export.  Fun, witty, kind, she was a loving mother, loving grandmother, loyal sister and friend who loved to read and travel, and whose interest in genealogy helped expand a family reunion in Oklahoma into a multi-lineage reunion. In her commitment to things which interested her she became inspirational, leading some to books, others to genealogy, and was always a great travel companion. She will be dearly missed by family and friends. Her loss is their loss.

The relatives and friends of Roberta L. Ness are invited to attend her funeral service  in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 3:00 PM.  Interment to follow at Carolina Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends in Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel Saturday between 2:00 and 3:00 PM.
