Roberta Lewis Dare, 88, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Avner Dare, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, November 6, 2012. Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, November 10, 2012 in the Bethany United Methodist Church,1853 Maybank Hwy, James Island at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in J. HENRY STUHR NORTH AREA CHAPEL, 2119 Dorchester Road.

Roberta was born October 14, 1924 in Long Island, New York, daughter of Myrl Lewis and Isabel DeShon Lewis. She was a member of Cherokee Place United Methodist Church. She was a Nurse with the Navy Nursing Corp in WWII. Roberta retired as a nurse with the College of Charleston. She is survived by her son, Dwight Dare of Lawrence, Kansas, daughter, Melinda Hamilton of Charleston, SC, two Grandchildren: Wesley Rhodes, Tashia Dare, and two Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Stanley Dare. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cherokee Place United Methodist Church, PO Box 70936, North Charleston, SC 29415-0396.
