Robert Michael Zavell, 78, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Karen Helen Plath Zavell died Wednesday, December 28, 2016. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 7, 2017 in St. Andrews Church Mount Pleasant (Historic Church), 440 Whilden Street at 2:00 pm, followed by a reception at Water's Edge Restaurant, Shem Creek.

Robert was born October 13, 1938 in New York, New York, son of the late Jesse Zavell and the late Helen Sussman Zavell. He graduated from St. Lawrence University, Canton, NY where he played hockey and lacrosse. Robert served in the United States Marine Corps and was a successful trader with the Chicago Board of Trade. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Robert was a fun friend to all and was a member of St. Andrew's Church Mount Pleasant.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Zavell of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two sons, Robert Zavell (Laura) of NY, NY and Jeremy Zavell of Manning, SC; grandson, Andrew Zavell; granddaughter, Zoe Zavell; two nieces, Jeanie Zavell and Andrea Zavell; nephew, Michael Zavell. He was preceded in death by a brother, Marty Zavell.
