Robert Ingle Withers, 93, of Johns Island, S. C. entered into eternal rest, June 28, 2022.
Bob fought a valiant 2 years plus battle with cancer, always wanting to be as active as possible.
Bob was born September 10, 1928 in Atlanta, Georgia, the son of the late John Samuel and Eva Brown Withers.
Bob was a Veteran, having served with the US Navy in both World War II and the Korean conflict. He is a member of Ashley River Baptist Church, the American Legion Post 208, Friends of the Hunley and the Sons of the Confederacy, Secession Camp 4.
Bob retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company, (32 Years) and AT&T (6 years). Since working was his passion, he went into business for himself and ran Withers Telephone Service successfully for 25 years. That success allowed him to always help others. He retired at the age of 87.
Bob was a keen history buff and a prolific reader. He never missed an opportunity to share his knowledge of history with others. He enjoyed sharing his many books with family and friends.
Bob is survived by his loving friend, confidante and caregiver, Mary Stroble; a son, William Clay Withers (Elizabeth); a daughter, Linda Diane Wagoner (Jon); grandchildren, William Taylor Withers (Shannon) and Claire Elizabeth Withers; two sisters, Harriett Withers Mackey of Lake Mary, Florida and Susan Withers Trinkle of Lilburn, Georgia; and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. Bob was predeceased by his granddaughter, Amanda Lee Powell, parents, and his siblings, Sammy Withers, Charles Withers, Catherine Withers Marcom, Mary Withers Flowers and Virginia Withers Banasky.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Christine, Elizabeth, and Kristin of Crescent Hospice for their support and compassionate care.

His Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, July 3, 2022 at 3:00 pm at J. Henry Stuhr Funeral Home, West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, Charleston. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until the hour of service at the Chapel. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery, 6869 Parkers Ferry Road, Adams Run, SC.
