Robert “Bob” Pearson Witcher, 78, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at his home surrounded by loved ones. A dedicated and cherished member of his communities in South Carolina and Georgia, Robert will be honored in a memorial service to be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Grace United Methodist Church, located at 1601 Sam Rittenberg Blvd., Charleston, SC 29407 at 11 am. Following the service, he will be laid to rest with military honors at Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim (KKBE) Cemetery on Huguenin Ave. at 1 pm. The family will receive visitors at the Schwartz-Witcher home from 5 pm to 8 pm Thursday evening. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel.
Born on December 29, 1945, in Conway, South Carolina, and raised in Myrtle Beach, Robert was the beloved son of the late Pearson Witcher and the late Christine Harvey Witcher Swinnie, and the loving brother of the late Dorothy “Dotsey” Landon. Growing up, he developed a strong sense of justice and commitment to helping others, which led him to serve 22 years in the Georgia Air National Guard, practice law as an attorney for 50 years, and unwaveringly support his friends and family. In addition, Robert was known for his exuberant spirit as an avid motorcyclist and a proud member of the Harley Owners Group (HOG) and the East Cooper Shag Club. Robert was a loyal Christian with a love of Judaism and pride in serving both communities. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and uncle.
Robert is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Lynda Schwartz; two daughters, Stephanie Witcher-Sayman (Andrew) of Atlanta, Ga, and Rebecca Witcher-Warren (Jonathon) of Charleston, SC; and two loving grandsons, Aiden and Kelvin Sayman; as well as three nieces and numerous beloved mishpachah.
Robert Pearson Witcher will be remembered not only for his professional achievements but also for his warm-hearted nature, passion for life, and infectious humor. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Emory Healthcare Veterans Program. (tinyurl.com/EmoryVets)
