Robert Laurie Wilson

November 20, 1925 — July 13, 2013

Robert L. Wilson, 87, died peacefully at his home in Charleston, SC on Saturday, July 13, 2013. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on November 20, 1925. He also resided in Mendham, NJ and Caracas, Venezuela before retiring in Charleston in 1988. He served in the U.S. Navy, was active in the IBEW for 64 years, and was a member since 1961 of various bodies of the Masonic Fraternity, including Knights Templar, Scottish Rite and Shriners International.

Robert is predeceased in death by his wife, Virginia; his daughter, Joyce; his sons, David and Robert II; and his grandson, Jason. Left behind are three daughters: Julia Dobbins, Jean Buehler and Laura Riesmeyer; 15 grandchildren: Denise Rambacher, Jane Prichard, Suzie Massett, Chris Nickol, Jared Yerian, Charles Riesmeyer, Jeff Riesmeyer, Michael Riesmeyer, Robert Wilson, Chad Wilson, Monica Wilson, Ashley Wilson, Jill Hensley, Brian Hahn, and Sara Carstensen; 20 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Also left behind is his good friend, Scott Hawkey, who cared for Robert for over six years; believe me, they had it all over Seinfeld.

The family will receive friends Monday beginning at 11:00 am in the sanctuary of First (Scots) Presbyterian Church, 53 Meeting Street. The service will begin at 12:00 noon. Entombment will be at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens immediately following service. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, Charleston SC.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Charleston Animal Society, 2455 Remount Road, North Charleston, SC 29406, 843-747-4849.
