Robert Lee Wheeler, 76, of North Charleston, South Carolina a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, died Tuesday, October 5, 2010.
Born December 17, 1933 in Dilliner, PA, Mr. Wheeler was the son of James Wheeler and Eva Donley Wheeler. Mr. Wheeler was a veteran of the US Navy, serving for 16 years. He retired as an electrician in Shop 51 at the Charleston Naval Shipyard.
Surviving Mr. Wheeler are his wife of 57 years, Shirley Jean Bishop Wheeler; daughter: Denise D. Wheeler of N. Charleston; son: Michael P. Wheeler and wife Christine of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren: Michael P. Wheeler, II and wife Michelle of Fairfax, VA, Parker Lane Wheeler of Mt. Pleasant; great grandchild: Tanner Bellamy of Mt. Pleasant; sister: Patricia Gillispie of Warren, Ohio. He was predeceased by a brother: Charles F. Wheeler, Sr., a sister: Elsie K. Bell and another brother and sister in early childhood.
The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Wheeler are invited to attend the funeral service of the former at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, N. Charleston, Saturday at eleven o'clock. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel one hour prior to the service.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the excellent care provide for Mr. Wheeler by Dr. Robert Wall and his staff.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to one's favorite charity.
