Robert "Bob" L. Westbury, Sr., 83, of Charleston, SC, passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021.
Bob was born in Charleston on June 27, 1938. He is survived by his wife, Toni Wessinger Westbury; his children, Dawn Westbury (Fraser Torlay), Robert L. Westbury, Jr. (Lyla), and Diana W. Thompson (Captain Mike); and his grandchildren, Robert L. Westbury III, Cape Westbury, Brett Westbury, and Matthew Westbury.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa A. Westbury; his parents, Horace Westbury and Lucille Way Grasberger; and his stepfather, Charles Grasberger.
Bob (or Pops as he was known by many) is a retired Philadelphia police officer and he served our country in the US Air Force. He owned the go cart track on Folly Beach in the 70's, while establishing his long running business, A.C. Heating and Air Conditioning. Robert L. Westbury, Jr. "Bobby" will carry on this legacy.
Bob was an avid sports fisherman and won multiple SC Governor's Cup billfish tournaments as Captain. His love for the sea and the outdoors has been passed down to his children and grandchildren. Bob was a loving, devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a generous man with a sense of humor like no other. He will be deeply missed by many.
A memorial service will be held in New Beginnings Church, 849 Fort Johnson Rd, Charleston, SC 29412, on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life, immediately following the graveside service, at the James Island Yacht Club.
